The Vision
Gloria and Peter wanted to design their dream home, they found
the perfect location on the ocean cliffs at Wombarra, where they could have uninterrupted ocean views and watch the whales pass them by from the comfort of their lounge!!
Careful consideration in the design phase, incorporating plenty of natural light, making sure to picture frame the escarpment and the ocean views from any point in the home, and delivering a warm cozy feel, the clients loved the feel of industrial meets modern architecture with the use of polished concrete floors with timber stairs with recycled brick feature walls to the lower level then moving into polished timber floors and feature timber ceilings in the upper levels
The Problem
The site being on a cliff top and with the Illawarra escarpment above presented some challenges with the site being classified as a slip area, with subterranean water issues and with the close proximity to the main road all presented some challenges in the design phase with careful engineering and stormwater management to get this through council.
Being there forever home Peter & Gloria wanted work with a builder that was flexible and felt comfortable to deliver the dream home.
The Process
We had to Demolish there existing home to create the new building envelope, Gloria and Peter enjoyed the design and building process, they enjoyed the fortnightly meetings onsite on watching the progress and they also liked shopping and the specialist suppliers to select all their fixtures and fittings.
During the construction phase , Gloria & Peter would travel away regularity , emphasising the importance of staying informed about the build's progress. Utilising our online portal, they accessed photos documenting the home's development and followed the online schedule, consolidating all communication in one easily accessible location. This streamlined process allowed them to share the progress with family and friends.
