CKS Projects wins big at the 2026 Master Builders NSW Southern Regions Excellence in Building Awards
CKS Projects has proudly taken home a major award at the Master Builders Association (MBA) NSW 2026 Southern Regions Excellence in Building Awards, celebrated at a black-tie gala awards night held on Saturday 25 July 2026 at the University of Wollongong. The Wollongong-based builder was recognised as Winner in the Contract Homes $1.9 Million to $2 Million category for its standout Wombarra Clifftops residence. The award-winning Wombarra Clifftops home is a split-level custom residence perched on the Wombarra cliffs, where modern architecture meets the Illawarra coastline. The project involved demolishing the existing dwelling as a knockdown rebuild and delivering a new home designed to respond to the site's natural slope, ocean views, and Illawarra escarpment backdrop.
It was a genuinely demanding build. Because of the clifftop location, engineering and stormwater management had to be carefully designed to account for the site's classification as a slip area, subterranean water issues, and the block's proximity to a main road. CKS Projects managed the full build from demolition through to handover, coordinating structural engineering, site preparation, and the detailed construction work a cliffside block requires.
The finished home blends industrial and natural elements, with polished concrete floors, recycled brick feature walls, and timber stairs on the lower level, moving to polished timber floors and timber ceilings on the upper levels that bring warmth throughout. The custom design maximises natural light and frames spectacular views of both the ocean and the escarpment, delivering the timeless, forever home the clients had dreamt of.
The Southern Regions Excellence in Building Awards celebrate the best residential and commercial builders across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, and surrounding South Coast regions, with entries judged on design, quality of workmanship, degree of difficulty, and client outcomes. Winning in a competitive contract homes category places CKS Projects among the leading custom home builders in the region.
